NANAO SAKAKI
1 January 1923 – Winter Solstice, 2008
As 2008 came to an end, I heard from friends that Nanao Sakaki had passed to the other side on the night of the Winter Solstice in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
On January 17, 2009, I joined others who had known Nanao from the late 1970’s and 1980’s in a reading in Santa Fe organized by Chris Wells. The invitation to the memorial reading / party read:

Feel free to come and savor the poetry, lore, love of Bardic circles which Nanao inspired in many peoples around the planet while walking 3 continents for 86 years. Once Nanao was asked what to say about an old person who had died.
